BIRMINGHAM, AL — What has become an increasingly popular event in the Birmingham metro is back again as the Jewish Food and Culture Fest is set for September 8 at the Levite Jewish Community Center.

The Friedman Family Foundation Jewish Food and Culture Fest runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and includes a bevy of activities in addition to authentic Jewish cuisine.

The event features the ever-popular When Pigs Fly Kosher BBQ Cook-Off, where competitive teams from across the Southeast will test their skills cooking beef brisket, chicken, and beans. This event is a fun, free, family-friendly celebration that's open to the entire community.

The LJCC issued a statement this week saying the event is still in need of volunteers. Shifts include food prep, food serving, cashier, airbrush tattoo art and other duties. The LJCC needs volunteers ages 16 and up and will provide service hours for students who may need them. Shifts are broken up to allow time to both volunteer and enjoy the event.

Anyone interested in volunteering may do so here.
