Man In Custody After Mountain Brook Police Chase

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — A suspect is in custody after a high speed chase through Mountain Brook. Mountain Brook Police pursued Eric McAlpine, 24, on Montclair until he struck a pole between Cresthill Road and Hoadley Drive, crossed traffic and hit a curb, flipping the car in the process.
McAlpine was accused of stealing a vehicle in Irondale. He attempted to flee the scene but was taken into custody after the crash. McAlpine has been charged with receiving stolen property, certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol, unlawful possession of controlled substance and attempting to elude.
He is being held on $22,800 bond.
