Megan Montgomery Remembered By Community As Selfless, Charitable

HOOVER, AL —The death of Megan Montgomery, who was found dead behind Mountain Brook High School on Sunday, has prompted a swarm of support for her family and numerous testimonies about her charitable work in the community and beyond.

The Hoover resident was not only heavily involved with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, but was also a founder of the organization's junior board.

"The GBHS staff would like to extend our most heartfelt condolences to Megan's family and friends." the humane society stated on social media. "Her impact on us and the lives of thousands of animals will never be forgotten."

Montgomery's husband, former Hoover police officer Jason McIntosh, turned himself in to Mountain Brook police Monday as the primary suspect in her death, according to officials.

In a WBRC interview, the CEO of the humane society said members knew of an apparent history of domestic abuse in Montgomery's marriage to McIntosh.

"All of us here at GBHS from the volunteers to the board offered our support and let her know that if she ever needs anything we are right here... We did know," Allison Black-Cornelius, CEO of Greater Birmingham Humane Society, told WBRC interview. "Gosh... what could we have done different."

Political commentator Ameshia Cross remembers Montgomery as a valuable member of her community. "You wouldn't have found a kinder, more gentle, loving or charitable soul than Megan Montgomery," Cross said on social media Tuesday.

Montgomery filed for divorce from McIntosh on May 16, but according to court records, the case was still active at the time of her death.
