Mountain Brook Businesses Must Require Customers To Wear Masks

The Mountain Brook City Council Monday passed an ordinance requiring businesses to make customers wear face coverings.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — After a special meeting of the Mountain Brook City Council, businesses in Mountain Brook are now required to make their patrons wear face coverings while in their businesses. The ordinance will take effect in Mountain Brook on Friday, July 3.

The council's ordinance comes after Jefferson County health director Dr. Mark Wilson issued a mandatory face covering ordinance for Jefferson County that started Monday.

"I've heard from people concerned about their personal liberty in wearing masks, I've also heard from people concerned their personal liberty is being violated by people they're encountering in public by not wearing a mask," Wilson said in a news conference Friday.
