Mountain Brook City Council Shoots Down Overton Condos

Residents had previously expressed concern over the impact the development would bring to the community, including increased traffic.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — After a second public forum on Monday night, the Mountain Brook City Council voted to deny a rezoning request for the Overton condos development after outcry from residents of the area.

Developers for the project approached the council in September about the rezoning for a 41-unit condo development, some of which fell onto Vestavia Hills property. The council voted the request down 4-1 during their Dec. 11 meeting.

Residents had previously expressed concern over the impact the development would bring to the community, including increased traffic. The council ultimately sided with the public.
