Mountain Brook Community Rallies Behind Lunchroom Worker

Residents are donating to a GoFundMe fundraiser to help raise money for Micah Mumford after his house in Pratt City burned down.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The Mountain Brook community is coming together to support one of the high school's most popular staff members in the wake of a personal tragedy. Residents are donating to a GoFundMe fundraiser to help raise money for Micah Mumford after his house in Pratt City burned down.

Mumford, who has worked in the Mountain Brook High School lunchroom for 10 years, lived with his cousin in their grandparents' home before two fires burned the house down. No one was injured in the event, but the family lost everything in the fire.

Mountain Brook students immediately started spreading the word about the GoFundMe through Twitter, and have even started a collection box for clothes for Mumford and his cousin. The account, as well as two other's started in his honor, has raised almost $19,000, all of which Mumford intends to use to replace everything he lost in the fire.
