Mountain Brook Gets Brunt Of Rain In Jefferson County

Cities in Jefferson County saw anywhere between two and seven inches of rain Tuesday.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — A series of thunderstorms that swept through Alabama Tuesday dropped several inches of rain onto Jefferson County, but Mountain Brook received the brunt of the rainfall in Jefferson County, more than doubling rain amounts in other Jefferson County communities.

Mountain Brook reported 6.16 inches of rain Tuesday, and reports of flooding were widespread across the city, especially on Mountain Brook Parkway, Overbrook Road and Old Leeds.

The flooding caused Mountain Brook school officials to delay the start of the day for Mountain Brook High School Wednesday.
