New Restaurant To Open In English Village

A new southern-style restaurant is set to open in place of the recently-closed Root to Tail space in English Village.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - As one Mountain Brook restaurant closed at the beginning of this summer, a new one is expected to open in its place by the end of the summer. This August, Trey McLemore is opening Bobby Carl’s Table - a restaurant with a fresh seasonal take on Southern food - where Root to Tail was located in English Village.

The Shelby County native is partnering with childhood friend Tim Lowe and his wife, Christy Lowe, on the project.

“I’ll be making multiple trips a week down to the farmers market. If peas are in season, we’ll serve peas; if tomatoes are in season, we’ll serve tomatoes,” McLemore said in a Birmingham Busines Journal report. “It’s going to be really seasonal — pretty much the food that my grandmother cooked when I was a kid.”

The new eatery will have elements of a meat-and-three for lunch with more composed dishes for dinner. While the restaurant will include a bourbon bar, the focus will remain family-oriented with a price point that is as low as possible. McLemore also plans to add a retail room that will sell dishes to go as well as retail wine and beer.
