New Restaurant To Open In Former Avo Location In Mountain Brook
Just weeks after the announcement that Avo in Mountain Brook Village would close, a new restaurant is slated for the location.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - Just a few weeks after the announcement was made that Mountain Brook restaurant Avo and its whiskey bar counterpart Dram would close, a new restaurant has been slated to open in the space formerly occupied by Avo and Dram. Abhi Eatery and Bar is expected to open in March under the direction of renown chef Abhi Sainju.
A report by the Birmingham Business Journal said Sainju opened the first Abhi location at The Summit in 2017 as well as mo:mo at The Pizitz Food Hall. He also previously partnered with Sam Fallaw and Bernie Smith to open Bamboo on 2nd in 2015.
Abhi’s menu will feature cocktails, curry dishes, noodle bowls and sushi. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)

"I am very pleased to confirm that Abhi Sainju is coming to the second floor of my property to open another location, which will serve Asian fusion fare that will be creative and unique to this particular spot," said landlord JT McPherson. "Abhi’s excitement perhaps surpasses my own since he will be at such a prime location with a fantastic view in Mountain Brook Village. He and his team have a distinct vision and a magnetic passion to provide quality food with a warm ambiance to the wonderful residents of Mountain Brook and greater Birmingham. It has been an absolute joy working with him, and we both look forward to many years of a successful relationship in the Brook."
Avo and Dram closed in December, and the owners cited a failure to reach an agreement with McPherson as one reason for the closings.
