Spartans Fall In Latest ASWA Football Poll
A loss to top-ranked 7A powerhouse Thompson dropped Mountain Brook from the top spot in the 6A poll this week.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — Top-ranked 7A school Thompson has made a habit out of knocking off Class 6A no. 1 teams this season. Mountain Brook can attest to that.
The Spartans had been ranked no. 1 in the Alabama Sports Writers Association top 10 6A poll for five straight weeks before losing to Thompson 31-0 Friday night. But Mountain Brook was able to ascend to that top spot thanks to what Thompson did earlier in the season.
The Warriors beat preseason 6A no. 1 Oxford in Week 1 to allow Mountain Brook to move into the top spot. Oxford is now back in that sport, while Mountain Brook dropped to no. 3.
