Spartans Baseball Team Racks Up Statewide Awards
Although the season was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, Mountain Brook's baseball team captured several awards for the 2020 season.
MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The 2020 high school baseball season was ended abruptly when the coronavirus pandemic hit, which was a disappointment especially for the Mountain Brook High School baseball team, which at toe time was ranked no. 1 in the state. However, the team racked up awards for the season at the recent Alabama Baseball Coaches Awards ceremony.
Mountain Brook's Edward Berry was named Class 7A Player of the Year, while head coach Lee Gann was named 7A Coach of the Year, and assistant coach Pete Giangrosso was named Assistant Coach of the Year.
Berry, a pitcher, catcher and infielder for the Spartans last year, signed with Swarthmore College.
