Spartans Capture 6A State Title
Mountain Brook defeated Spanish Fort Wednesday in the Class 6A state finals at Bartow Arena.
BIRMINGHAM, AL —Mountain Brook's boys basketball program is no stranger to winning, as Wednesday the Spartans captured their sixth state title in the last eight years with a 13-point win over Spanish Fort. But this championship involves a handful of "firsts."
The state title is the first 6A championship for the Spartans, after Mountain Brook was reclassified from 7A before the school year started. Also, this championship is the Spartans' first under new head coach Tyler Davis.
The Spartans got some timely three-point shots from Ty Davis (the first time a Mountain Brook head coach's son played in a championship game), as the younger Davis hit two big 3's in the third quarter to put the Spartans ahead for good.
