Spire Pipeline Upgrades May Cause Traffic Issues

As Spire begins its pipeline upgrades in Mountain Brook next week, some traffic issues may arise over the course of the project.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - Spire, formerly Alagasco, will be making upgrades to gas lines next week, and the Mountain Brook Police Department is reminding residents that the work may involve some traffic issues.

This project is scheduled to begin the week of April 16, on Montevallo Road near Culver House Road. In order to perform the work safely and efficiently, lane closures in Spire's immediate work area will be required.

"We’re hoping that by working during the week at night between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., we can keep traffic disruptions to a minimum," a release by Spire said. "Any time there is a need for lane closures, the Mountain Brook Police Department will be assisting to ensure traffic flows as smoothly as possible."

The upgrade project is expected to take several months with an anticipated completion date of Aug. 20. "We will make every attempt to keep this as minimally invasive as possible on you and the community," Spire said. "And rest assured, when the project is complete, we will completely restore all affected streets, yards and landscaping."
