The Mountain Brook City Council authorized a study of a sidewalk extension on Brookwood Road.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The Mountain Brook City Council approved a study involcing options for a sidewalk extension on Brookwood Road. The cost of this study should be about $2,000, according to a Village Living report.

The council authorized Alicia Bailey of Sain Associates to conduct the survey after residents made a request for the extension of the sidewalks from Crosshill Road to the city limit toward Old Leeds Road.

The cost was previously estimated to be about $900,000, with the city's share of the cost at about $277,000. However, the city cannot apply for another Transportation Alternative Program grant until it is authorized by ALDOT to begin construction on the sidewalk project on Hagood Street.
