Zoo Sidewalk Connector Approved By Mountain Brook City Council
A Zoo Sidewalk Connector will stretch along 20th Place South from Cahaba Road to Poinciana Drive.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - The Mountain Brook City Council has granted approval to the Alabama Department of Transportation to proceed on a sidewalk project along 20th Place South that will stretch from Cahaba Road to Poinciana Drive. The project will connect Mountain Brook and Homewood, something residents of both communities have supported.
Mountain Brook City Manager Sam Gaston said the city of Birmingham is overseeing the ALDOT-funded project because the sidewalk falls within its city limits.
"We’re excited about it," Gaston said in a Village Living report. "It’s finally come to fruition." He said bids would not go out until late August.

This project is the second in a pair of connector projects joining Mountain Brook and Homewood. The cities are also teaming up to construct a walkway where the cities are joined by a bridge over Highway 280.
The project, dubbed the Highway 280 Public Road Cooperative District, would feature an eight-foot-wide bridge, which backers say will cost a little over $1 million.
