Alabama Returns To Curbside Alcohol Sales Through Early January

To-go alcohol sales will continue through Jan. 4, the state's alcoholic beverage control board announced Monday.

The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Board on Monday announced it will again allow restaurants to sell alcohol by pick-up and carry-out through Jan. 4, 2021.

The ABC Board on Monday voted 3-0 to approve the temporary measure amid a surge in cases of the coronavirus.

“We are extremely sensitive to the plight of our licensees during the COVID-19 pandemic and we will continue to make every attempt to help them remain open, financially viable and safe,” said ABC board administrator Mac Gipson.

Under the new guidance, any business with a Restaurant and Retail Liquor License for on-premises alcohol sales can now sell alcohol through curbside pick-up or carry-out services. To-go alcohol sales are limited to no more than a 375 milliliter bottle of a spirit, two 750 milliliter bottles of wine or 144 ounces of beer per customer.

The new order also requires that the server or employee handling the to-go alcohol be at least 21 years old.
