Jefferson County Man Accused Of Bomb Threat Indicted
A man accused of calling in a phony bomb threat in Birmingham's Linn Park has been indicted.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Jefferson County man has been indicted after accusations that he callied in a bomb threat in Birmingham in June of 2020.
According to the indictment, 50-year-old Brian Steven Vest of Warrior falsely reported that he had placed a bomb by a statue in Birmingham’s Linn Park June 1. The official charge against vest is engaging in conduct with the intent to convey false and misleading information regarding the use of a weapon of mass destruction.
If convicted, Vest faces a maximum of five years in prison, and a $250,000 fine.

The FBI, Birmingham Police Department and Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office worked in partnership investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Henry Cornelius is prosecuting the case.
