Man Hospitalized After Shooting On Parkway East

A shooting on Parkway East Monday left one man in critical condition at UAB Hospital.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A shooting early Monday morning left one person hospitalized in critical condition. The shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. in the 1100 block of Parkway East.

The victim was taken my private vehicle to the hospital, where the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate the shooting. Sgt. Joni Money said witness reports indicated where the shooting occurred, and that a verbal altercation likely led to the shooting.

"The victim and an individual at the convenience store may have exchanged words," Money said. "The other individual left the store. The victim and his friend left the store and were traveling on Parkway East, in the City of Birmingham, when shots were fired at their vehicle. One of those shots struck the male victim."
