Arrests Made in North County Warrant Sweep

Sheriff's deputies searched for suspects with outstanding warrants on Saturday.

Sheriff’s deputies conducted a North County warrant sweep on Saturday, arresting seven adults on misdemeanor warrants and one for felony possession of a controlled substance.

The sweep was part of the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station’s Holiday Watch crime-prevention program and included Del Mar, Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe, according to Sgt. Joel Wigand. Suspects with drug- and theft-related warrants were targeted.

The detail was funded by the Sheriff’s Warrant System Automation Trust Fund, which is made up of assessment fees collected from suspects who have failed to appear in court or failed to comply with a court order.
