Bellwether is Your Rancho Coastal Humane Society Pet of The Week

She had too many tails.

Bellwether is pet of the week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society. She’s a 3 year old, 60 pound, female, Shepherd mix.

Bellwether was a stray before being taken to a shelter in Riverside County then transferred to RCHS through the FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) program.

Her fur was infested with hundreds of foxtails. The animal care attendants pulled out hundreds of them, then hundreds more. She eventually underwent several surgeries to removes the foxtails under her skin. Now she’s happy and healthy and ready to begin her new life.
