Carmel Valley Library Offers Free Global Music Shows

The culturally varied music program will run on Wednesday evenings beginning Aug. 14 and continuing through December.

School will soon be back in session, and many students will offer the age-old recitative: “Mom and dad, I want to learn how to play an instrument.”

The Friends of the Carmel Valley Library are offering free family music programs throughout the remainder of 2013. The programs aim to expose families (including young aspiring musicians) to a variety of musical and cultural styles, from global jazz to Latin American music to German Renaissance Madrigals.

The first show in the series will feature global jazz by Adrienne Nims on Wednesday, Aug. 14. All programs are free, and will take place on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the community room at the Carmel Valley Library, 3919 Townsgate Dr., San Diego. A couple of Saturday shows are also scheduled, on Aug. 31 and Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
