DEL MAR, CA – A cement spill forced lane closures Friday on Interstate 5 in San Diego's North County.

The spill happened on northbound I-5, just south of Via de la Valle, according to the California Highway Patrol. It was first reported at 11:17 a.m.

The right two lanes of northbound I-5 have been closed. The CHP issued a congestion alert for the freeway in the area.
