At the Del Mar Fairgrounds, a shorter-than-usual Fourth of July fireworks display will feature low-flying pyrotechnics designed for attendees of the fair.
“This year’s show is specially-designed for our on-site audience,” the Fairgrounds’ website says.

Also this year, the Fourth of July Parade staged at Powerhouse Park is cancelled.
Elsewhere, plans include parking closures on some streets in residential neighborhoods where, during most years, visitors try to catch a view of the fireworks, hindering emergency vehicle access. Extra officers will be in place to enforce parking restrictions and keep traffic moving on the Camino del Mar bridge near the North Beach.
At the beach, extra hours are scheduled for lifeguards throughout the holiday weekend. Parking enforcement and community patrol officers are scheduled to work until midnight.
Additional Sheriff’s deputies will be assigned to patrol the beach and downtown, where large crowds are expected.
The Fire Department will staff a second fire engine and station a medic downtown on July 4 and 5.
