With a flash flood watch in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday through 4 p.m. Friday, residents can collect free sandbags from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays at the Public Works Department, 2240 Jimmy Durante Boulevard.

Thursday night, the chance of precipitation is 90 percent and rainfall amounts between a one-half and three-quarters of an inch are possible, according the National Weather Service. The forecast shows the same predictions for Friday.
The fill-your-own sandbags are intended for residents only. Public works will provide takers with access to shovels and sand.

On City streets and sidewalks, workers are positioning sandbags at known flooding areas. The public is asked not to tamper with the sandbags.
