May 9, 2021
A City Council hearing to consider the formation of a utility undergrounding district on Tewa Court and the upper portion of 10th Street is set for 4:30 p.m. May 17.The hearing will be the first in a series of actions to reinitiate the citywide Undergrounding Project. Council action to form two additional districts is expected in July. The proposed Tewa Court/10th Street district would add to seven others identified in Del Mar's program to remove utility poles and replace overhead cables with underground lines. In 2016, Del Mar voters identified utility undergrounding as a priority with the approval of Measure Q . The one-cent sales tax measure is generating the funds to finance the project.  While the City Council has authorized design work, construction has not been approved.Open the Tewa Court/10th Street District formation noticeOpen map of Utility Underground Districts (PDF)Open the Undergrounding Project webpage
