Del Mar Union School District to Address Space and Facility Concerns
Superintendent Holly McClurg asks for input from parents and staff in coming up with a master plan.

In her August message, Del Mar Union School District Superintendent Holly McClurg emphasized the need for a master plan to address the district’s space and facility issues.
According to the letter, the district faces challenges such as a lack of available space for district programs, projected increases in enrollment, technology infrastructure demands and a need for modernization at some schools.
The letter says that, over the next 5 months, the DMUSD will work closely with staff, parents and community members to formalize an official plan addressing these concerns.

Facility optimization is a major focus of the district’s core strategies, which also focus on technology, professional development, communication and funding.
“The high priority DMUSD places on top-quality teaching and student learning is inherently linked by the physical environment at each of our schools,” McClurg wrote in the letter. “We know our world is a digital one. We know our classrooms and schools should look different than they did decades ago.”
