Del Mar's Wendy Buchi to be Honored as a ‘Health Hero Champion’
Buchi will be honored at a dinner by the San Diego County Medical Society Foundation.

Del Mar's Wendy Buchi, an obstetrician/gynecologist at IGO Medical Group, has been chosen for the 2013 Health Hero Champion award for working to provide care for uninsured women through Project Access.
Buchi will be honored at a dinner by the San Diego County Medical Society Foundation, which operates the program, at The Abbey on 5th Avenue on Sept. 26.
“Volunteering for Project Access has been a fun and rewarding experience for me,” Buchi said in a statement. “Project Access patients are so appreciative of the care they receive. They want to improve their lives so they listen and follow-through on their care, which is what every doctor wants to see from their patients.”
Started in 2008, Project Access San Diego has connected more than 2,100 low-income, uninsured patients with care, according to the foundation.“It’s an honor for us to recognize our 2013 Healthcare Heroes on this special night,” San Diego County Medical Society Foundation Executive Director Barbara Mandel said in a statement. “We would not be able to deliver on our mission of improving community health, creating access to care, and providing wellness for patients without our partners’ ongoing support and commitment to the local community.”
Ticket information for the dinner is available here.
