Suspect Shot By Deputies Wanted Ice Cube Concert Ticket: VIDEO

Authorities said the man pulled out a handgun and shot into the crowd, before a deputy shot him. One witness caught the shooting on video.

DEL MAR, CA -- An Escondido man was shot by a deputy Sunday night at the Del Mar Racetrack after the man tried to buy a ticket to the sold-out Ice Cube concert, authorities said.

Daniel Elizarraras, 22, of Escondido had stable vital signs at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and was expected to survive, San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Rich Williams said.

The shooting was just before 6:40 p.m. at the Del Mar Fairgrounds at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., San Diego County sheriff's spokeswoman Lt. Karen Stubkjaer said.Rapper Ice Cube was performing and Elizarraras wanted to buy a ticket to the concert, Stubkjaer said. No more tickets were available.

"An argument ensued and nearby deputies responded," Stubkjaer said. "The man pulled out a silver plated semi-automatic handgun and fired several shots into a crowded area. Deputies engaged and returned fire."

No deputies or civilians were hurt, authorities said.

Race goers took to Twitter reporting that they heard shots and saw deputies swarm the area around the ticket booth.

In a video posted by a Twitter user, a man can be seen on the ground as a deputy pointed a gun at him. Shots are then fired as people in the area are heard screaming.

In another video, an announcer can be heard saying, "There's gunfire at the track. There's gunfire at the track" during the races.

Following the incident, Del Mar Racetrack officials tweeted the situation was contained and the concert would proceed.

The Del Mar Races is a premiere event that happens every summer in San Diego County, attracting people throughout the country, including celebrities. After many of the races, performers will host a concert as part of the Del Mar Summer Concert Series.
