Rain Continues to Soak San Diego County

More than an inch has fallen in many spots since Thursday.

The recent rains that have fallen on San Diego County since Thursday morning are expected to continue through Monday. While more than an inch of rain has been recorded in many communities, rain gauges in Del Mar haven’t topped the inch mark.

The National Weather Service released rainfall totals from Thursday morning through Saturday at 11 a.m:

The National Weather Service said rain was expected to persist for the next 24 to 48 hours as onshore flow increases in ahead of a cold upper-level trough headed down the coast through Monday.

“This was a welcome and beneficial rain for the area including the deserts, where little rain has fallen so far this season,” forecasters reported on the NWS website. “It is not quite over yet either.”

The National Weather Service forecast for Del Mar:

Saturday afternoon: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Areas of fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 10am. Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 61. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday night: A slight chance of showers before 10 p.m, then a chance of showers after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers before 10 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 42.
