Rubi is pet of the week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society. She’s a 4-1/2 year old, 44 pound, female, Shepherd / Hound mix.
Rubi was a stray in Sonora, Mexico, where she was living on the street with her litter of puppies. She stayed in a shelter for a year before she was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through the Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS) program.
When she arrived, Rubi was afraid to make eye contact. After a few days, she allowed her care providers to pet her.

Her new family will need to help her build confidence. If she has something that you want, you have to trade her for something better.
The $145 adoption fee for Rubi includes medical exam, spay, up to date vaccinations, registered microchip, and a one-year license if her new home is in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society’s Department of Animal Services.
