Matt Anderson's 4 goals pace Canyon Crest to 1st D II CIF title

Willauer-Contributing Writer-5-19-18-San Marcos High School-San Marcos, CA: For the first time in the history of each schools lacrosse teams, the Ravens of Canyon Crest Academy on the 4 goal 1 assist performance of Matt Anderson who is heading to Hamilton College in Central NY defeated the Titans of Eastlake High School from Chula Vista, CA in a well played 9-4 contest.
Canyon Crest Head Coach Brandon McCarthy on the win: When I was named head coach of Canyon Crest 2 years ago, our squad came out and battled well in today's contest, they've achieved 2 goals, we played together as a team along with being a family." "We knew going in the half that this game wasn't over we played hard in the second half we saw the score, Eastlake is a good squad and they fought back in a quarter final game and won." "At one time we trailed 4-1 in the semi final round but we battled back and won."

"Matt Anderson who scored 4 goals for our squad is ready to go to the next level where he will play at Hamilton College in NY someday when he visits us he will be creating this culture that we will embrace." said Coach McCarthy.
Matt Anderson on his 4 goal performance: "Some of my shots were sporadic as we communicated to each other to set up certain plays I expected the ball to go in the net but my job is to play lacrosse and that is what I did." "When we played an outstanding Granite Hills squad in the semi final round we trailed but we found a way to win by talking to each other we're good at coming back from being down, we worked on our plays that won that game I am lookiing forward to going to Hamilton College and experiencing the snow."

Other Canyon Crest performers Liam Spector contributed with 2 goals and 1 assist, 1 goal each by Cole Wojciekowski, Braden Mayer and Jake Randall. Zane Schwab recorded 9 saves in the nets.
For the Titans of Eastlake High at 15-7: 1 goal each by Jaxon Trinidad, Braden Mayer, AJ Catwray and Tony Santos. Kai Borden recorded 15 saves in the nets.
The Ravens of Canyon Crest 14-12 wins their first CIF Boys Lacrosse Title in school history.
