Encinitas Bicycle Safety - Sharrows

A sharrow is a road marking indicating the road is to be shared by bicycles & vehicles. When you see sharrows, slow down and share the road!

Tips for bicyclists: Avoid the door zone of parked cars and always obey traffic signals and other rules of the road.

Tips for drivers: Bicyclists may be riding in the middle of the lane to avoid the door zone. Remember the 3 feet law and only pass a bicyclist when there is at least three feet of clearance and it is safe.
