Business Bits: Italian Tasting Menu and Pest Control Acquisition

What's going on in the Encinitas business community this week?

Here's a quick recap of some of the business briefs happening in Encinitas for this week:

–– Firinze Trattoria, a premier Italian Restaurant in Encinitas famous for its Tuscan cuisine, is having an exclusive tasting menu on July 30 that will feature wines from B Cellars. B Cellars wines are known for combining grapes harvested from more than 20 different vineyards in Napa Valley, creating "layers of flavor" in a single bottle.

Traditional Italian fare combined with a number of wines will be enjoyed. Featured proteins on the tasting menu include: escargot, veal, wild trout and beef short ribs.

–– ForwardMetrics, and Encinitas-based technology company, recently completed a round of seed funding where it raised $1 million. The startup focuses on providing cloud-based analytics that companies can use to monitor strategic plans, and track employees productivity toward specific goals, not merely their workday activity.

According to SoCalTech.com, ForwardMetrics has raised about $1.75 million since being started in 2011.

–– Happy Pest Control, an Encinitas-based pest control company, was recently acquired by Griffin Pest Management of Santa Ana, according to Pest Control Technology's website. Happy was started by owner Steve Coy in the mid-90s in Pleasanton, Calif. In 2008, with the help of Steve's son Micah, the company was relocated to Encinitas, where the business began to thrive.

Griffin Pest Management is owned and operated by Travis Swope.

"Happy Pest Control specializes in general pest control services so this acquisition will afford us the opportunity to offer termite control to a larger market,” Swope said in a statement. “The team at Happy Pest is fantastic and we are really lucky to add them to our family. The goal over the coming weeks is to keep the transition seamless for the customers and our technicians.”
