Encinitas Mayoral Election Results: Blakespear Leads Thunder
Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear ran for re-election against challenger Julie Thunder.
ENCINITAS, CA — Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear is leading in the race for another term as mayor, outpacing challenger Julie Thunder.
As of Wednesday, Blakespear, who has served as mayor since 2016, had 57.16 percent of the vote, while Thunder had 42.84 percent, according to unofficial vote totals from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters.
It was unclear how many votes remained to be tallied, and with the prevalence of mail ballots in Tuesday's election, it could be days or weeks before final numbers are determined.
