ENCINITAS, CA — U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a man wanted on suspicion of several violent crimes — including attempted murder and assault on a peace officer — Tuesday in Encinitas.
The Norwalk Sheriff's Station alerted agents at the San Clemente Station to be on the look-out for Javier Ortegon. The 24-year-old U.S. citizen was wanted on suspicion of stabbing and then running over his former landlord with a stolen vehicle several times, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Ortegon also has a pending felony case of assault against a peace officer in Lakewood, California.
Around 9:30 a.m., agents on patrol near Moonlight State Beach spotted the blue Mercedes sedan listed on the look-out and a man fitting Ortegon's description sitting in the sedan. Authorities arrested Ortegon without incident. He and the vehicle were taken to a local Border Patrol station and then turned over to the Norwalk Sheriff's Station.
