New Encinitas Home Catches Fire
Nobody was injured by the blaze that broke out in the 2100 block of Mountain Vista Drive.
A home in the 2100 block of Mountain Vista Drive caught fire just before noon today. Nobody was home when the fire broke out, except for two dogs and two birds, which were all rescued.
The fire appears to have started in an upstairs room, though the cause is still under investigation, said Encinitas Fire Battalion Chief Fred Cox.
“You can’t tell from the outside of the home, but the damage is fairly significant on the inside,” Cox said, adding that initial damage estimates are still pending.

A total of four units from Encinitas, Carlsbad and Rancho Santa Fe responded to the fire, and crews were on the scene within four minutes, Cox said.
As of press time, a portion of Mountain Vista Drive was barricaded while authorities completed their investigation and it was expected to stay closed for about another hour.
