North County CPKs Host 'Pizza With A Purpose' For Fallen Officer

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – A fundraiser scheduled Wednesday at California Pizza Kitchens throughout San Diego, including in North County, will pay homage to slain police corporal Ronil Singh, 33, killed during a suspected DUI traffic stop in December in Newman.

On Jan. 30, "Pizza With a Purpose" will be held all day at CPK locations statewide with 20 percent of food and beverage purchases from participating guests -- who mention they are dining to support the Fallen Heroes fundraiser -- will be donated to support the family of Singh. The offer applies to dine-in, take-out or catering orders, the restaurant said.

The day after Christmas, Singh was attempting to conduct a traffic stop in Newman in Stanislaus County and moments later reported "shots fired" over the radio, according to deputies.

Singh, on the force since 2011, was found at the scene with gunshot wounds and died at a hospital. He leaves behind a wife and a 5-month-old son.

The accused shooter, Gustavo Perez Arriaga, and seven accused accomplices were arrested days later following a massive statewide manhunt, authorities said.

Those interested in participating in the fundraiser must print the flyer below to take to the restaurant or show the CPK post here on Facebook, according to managers.

The fundraiser is valid only at participating locations, so call to confirm with your nearest locale, and it is not valid at stadiums, university or airport locations, the restaurant said.
