North County Wetlands Leader Honored for Conservation
Doug Gibson Conservation Leadership Day, May 2, 2016: Proclamations Honor 20-Year Milestone in Protecting Nature.
It’s about access to long and winding trails, cleaner waters, and natural places of serenity - now and always.
On Monday, May 2, 2016 San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy Executive Director, Doug Gibson, was honored in an intimate event to celebrate his 20-year career milestone in wetlands protection. County Supervisor District III Dave Roberts, Encinitas Mayor Kristin Gaspar, and Solana Beach Mayor David Zito awarded proclamations recognizing his tenure of achievements in advancing conservation and education.
As Executive Director and Principal Scientist for the Conservancy, Gibson embraces a new era of conservation where nature isn’t closed off. It’s one in which people are invited to explore, to volunteer, and to create solutions for reducing our impacts on nature. I’ll see you at the 40th celebration! said Gibson in closing remarks at the event. His work continues ... to inspire emerging leaders and environmental stewards, and to work together to enhance the places we need for people and wildlife.
