San Diego County Library Marks Musical Milestone at Encinitas Branch

The two-night celebration was held Dec. 6 at ​the Encinitas Library, with another concert showcase the following day at the Del Mar Library.

ENCINITAS, CA – The San Diego County Library’s Acoustic Showcase recently marked a major musical milestone at the Encinitas Library.

"This is a celebration of the 500th acoustic showcase," San Diego County Library Director Migell Acosta said in the video below by the County News Center. "It's really a celebration of music and culture."

The 500th concert showcase took place Dec. 6 at the Encinitas Library, featuring performances by musicians Ross Moore, Tolan Shaw, Jeff Berkley and Lisa Sanders. The two-night celebration continued the following day at the Del Mar Library, which featured a performance by Mohavi Soul.

"The energy was great in the room," Shaw said. "I kind of felt it from the first song."

The San Diego County Library’s Acoustic Showcase features free performances by established and up-and-coming local musicians.

"We're cultural centers," Acosta said. "We're no longer just a place for books and a storehouse for books. We have all kinds of programs, and a lot of them are centered around the arts."
