15 Documentaries Chosen to Move Forward for Possible Oscar

The fifteen were chosen out of 134 submissions.

Fifteen documentaries were chosen from 134 submissions to move forward in the voting process for the documentary feature Oscar, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today.

The Academy’s Documentary Branch will eventually winnow the list to the five Oscar nominees.

The 15 films on the short list are:

-- “The Internet’s Own Boy”;

-- “Jodorowsky’s Dune”;

-- “Keep On Keepin’ On”;

-- “The Kill Team”;

-- “Last Days in Vietnam”;

-- “Life Itself”;

-- “The Overnighters”;

-- “The Salt of the Earth”;

-- “Tales of the Grim Sleeper”; and

-- “Virunga.”

Oscar nominations will be announced Jan. 15.
