Hailed as one of Christopher Nolan’s early masterpieces, “Memento” follows the story of a man hell-bent on punishing the perpetrators who killed his wife. That man is Lenny (Guy Pearce), who happens to be suffering from short-term memory loss. Ingenious and smart, Nolan carefully shows Lenny’s state of mind with two distinct timelines of events — one in reverse order presented in a series of color sequences, the other in chronological order presented in a series of black-and-white sequences. In the end, when they finally converge, the greatest plot twist takes place with a surprising reveal.
