Another Scorcher: Temps To Soar Again Today

Plan to cool off at the beach? Watch for strong rip currents.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA --- Temperatures will remain in the 100s in parts of the Southland again today and Wednesday, forecasters said.

"Very hot weather is expected across inland portions of Southwest California through Wednesday, with significant potential for heat-related impacts," said a National Weather Service statement. "Use extra caution if you need to be outdoors during the heat of the day. Make sure to stay hydrated and check on elderly friends and neighbors."

Forecasters said there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms today in the San Gabriel Mountains and the Antelope Valley, where the chance was set at 20 percent. Along the coast, more strong rip currents are expected, according to the NWS.

The NWS forecast partly cloudy skies in Los Angeles County today, and highs of 77 at LAX; 79 in Avalon; 87 in Long Beach; 89 in downtown L.A.; 98 in Burbank; 99 on Mount Wilson; 101 in Pasadena, San Gabriel, and Saugus; 104 in Woodland Hills and Palmdale; and 105 in Lancaster.

Wednesday's temperatures will be several degrees lower but sill high, and Thursday's will climb down a few more degrees.

Partly cloudy skies were forecast for Orange County, along with highs of 76 in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach; 77 in San Clemente; 87 in Irvine and Anaheim; 89 in Mission Viejo; 91 in Fullerton; and 92 in Yorba Linda.

Temperatures are expected to stay the same or rise slightly Wednesday before retreating Thursday.
In this weather, "ensure pets have access to water and shade," urged the NWS. "Remember never to leave kids or pets in the car, even for a very short period of time."
