Body Found on 101 Fwy in LA Died Via Suicide: Coroner

Coroner's officials say that a 27-year-old man who was found dead in the southbound lanes of the Hollywood (101) Freeway killed himself.

LOS ANGELES -- Coroner's officials have released the name of a 27-year-old man who was found dead in the southbound lanes of the Hollywood (101) Freeway in Los Angeles, and say that his death was caused by suicide.

The decedent was identified as Miguel Alejandre, according to the Los Angeles coroner's office. His city of residence was not immediately known.

The crash occurred near Rampart Boulevard about 2:45 a.m. Friday, but it could not be confirmed if the victim died as a result of being struck by a vehicle or jumped from a bridge over the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the southbound Hollywood Freeway were closed by the CHP until around 5 a.m. the morning of the incident.
