Burger Joint The Golden State To Close Forever On January 4
Owners said the closure was a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — After twelve successful years on Fairfax Avenue, the popular burger joint known as Golden State announced they will close for good on January 4. Owners of the restaurant cited the exhausting coronavirus pandemic as a direct cause of the closure in a heartfelt Instagram post.
"12 years ago we opened up a burger place," the restaurant wrote. "We quickly grew to love the Fairfax neighborhood and it loved us back. On top of that we won some local and National recognition. We even won a few awards. This year we were faced with a global pandemic. You may have heard about it, Covid-19.We tried our best to take it on but it proved to be a formidable foe. We are closing forever on Jan 4th. Please enjoy your final burger before then."
It's the latest closure in recent months, as many restaurants struggle to hold on after the cancellation of outdoor dining. Earlier this month, restaurant and bar owners throughout the city descended on the house of County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl to demand the return of outdoor dining.

On December 8, restauranteurs scored a small victory when a Los Angeles Superior Court judge rejected the county's ban on outdoor dining, saying the county did not "perform the required risk-benefit analysis" before enforcing. However, the state's order shutting down all in-person dining in the area remains in place.
