Electrical Explosion Injures Four, Causes Power Outage
Over 1,000 customers were knocked offline after an early morning explosion on Franklin Avenue.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — Four people were injured after an electricexplosion in Hollywood early Tuesday morning, which caused a power outage affecting over 1,000 LADWP customers. The explosion took place around 1:35 a.m. at 6198 W Franklin Ave, next to the 101 freeway in the area of Hollywood Tower.
Two people were taken to the hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department, one of whom was in serious condition. Two other people declined treatment at the scene.
The explosion caused a large power outage that impacted at least 1,075 LADWP customers. As of 9:10 a.m., the estimated time of restoration was 1 p.m.
