Emmys 2020: What To Know And Where To Watch
The 2020 Emmys will go virtual on Sunday as they honor prime-time television's most outstanding work.

The 2020 Emmy Awards will take place Sunday in recognition of excellence in prime-time television programming. And due to these unprecedented times, the annual awards show is expected to be unlike any other as the ceremony goes virtual for the first time in its 72-year history.
This year, Jimmy Kimmel takes center stage as master of ceremonies for the third time. And HBO’s “Watchmen” is the television show to beat with 26 nominations, including nods for Outstanding Limited Series, as well as an Outstanding Actress in a Limited Series or Movie nomination for Regina King.
Amazon Prime’s comedy-drama series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" follows closely behind with 20 nominations, and Netflix’s crime-drama series “Ozark” has scored 18 nominations of its own.

But the big question is: Will Netflix’s whopping 160 total nominations prevail over HBO’s impressive 107 total nominations? It’s anyone’s bet how the historic virtual affair plays out, but we can at least tell you how to watch TV’s biggest night of the year.

Good Morning America weekend co-anchors Eva Pilgrim and Whit Johnson, and ABC News correspondent Janai Norman will host a 90-minute virtual pre-show, featuring live interviews with nominees, winner predictions and a sneak peek at this year's unique on-screen moments in lieu of red carpet arrivals. "Countdown to the Emmys" will also be available on ABCNews.com, and the ABC News and ABC apps, as well as Hulu, The Roku Channel, YouTube TV, Amazon’s news app, Xumo, Sling TV, fuboTV, Facebook and Twitter.
“The 72nd Emmy Awards” on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT
On Sunday, Jimmy Kimmel hosts the main virtual ceremony from the Staples Center in Los Angeles instead of the Microsoft Center to accommodate social distancing rules for crews. Due to the pandemic, the Television Academy sent out 140 state-of-the-art cameras to each nominee, so everyone can appear live during the broadcast. For those without access to a TV, the virtual awards ceremony can also be streamed live through ABC’s website or their Android/iOS app.
