Grain Traders Cafe Opens First U.S. Location On Fairfax
The restaurant will feature an evolving menu based on grains, lean protein, fresh vegetables, legumes, seeds and more.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Singapore based Grain Traders has opened their first location in America right on Fairfax Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. The expansive restaurant offers a produce-focused market experience, complete with a coffee and tea shop with plans for a forthcoming dessert bar.
Grain Traders will offer an evolving menu of dishes, based around whole grains, fresh vegetables, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, plant-based and lean proteins. Guests can also create their own plates from the day's selection, along with a variety of pickles and sauces.
"The Grain Traders concept was born through the experience of fresh ingredients and food I experienced in Los Angeles," founder Javier Perez said. "The concept was presented with love to the cosmopolitan community of Singapore where it has since been interpreted and developed by an international team, absorbing culture and culinary inflictions from Asia to South America. Coming back to Los Angeles feels like we’ve come full circle."

Gisela Salazar-Golding will direct the kitchen. A native of Venezuela, Salazar-Golding has cooked in restaurants throughout Europe and Asia, creating dishes tying together bold flavors from South America and Southeast Asia.
"This is my first time living in Los Angeles and I really wanted to create recipes that celebrated the amazing produce and producers that make Californian cuisine the gem that it is," Salazar-Golding added. “The community here is so incredibly diverse, and the palate so worldly, that it feels like the perfect platform to showcase some of my favorite recipes from my heritage and travels.”
