Grinning Window Washer Ruins Couple's Afternoon Delight: Lawsuit
A couple is suing a Hollywood hotel, claiming their 15th-floor romp was interrupted by a window washer, who allegedly stopped to watch.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A couple is suing Loews Hollywood Hotel LLC, alleging their intimate experience on the 15th floor of the establishment in 2018 was watched by a peeping window washer with a smile on his face.
The plaintiffs are identified only as Paul B. and Gina R. in the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit, which also names as defendant DMS Facility Services, the Pasadena company that employed the allegedly unwelcome observer.
The suit filed Thursday alleges intrusion of privacy, negligence, both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress and civil rights violations. The plaintiffs seek unspecified damages.

A representative for Loews did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
The unmarried plaintiffs, who had been together as a couple for eight years, booked a room at the hotel on April 25, 2018.

"Because of the four-star rating of Loews, its stellar reputation for privacy and several-hundred-dollar per night rate, plaintiffs expected to enjoy a sojourn of romance and deep connection in their private room, free from intrusion, safe and secure from the outside world," the suit states.
They began their intimacy with the drapes open "to enjoy the daylight," the suit states. "They had no reason to expect anyone would intrude upon this intensely private interlude."
But after several minutes, Paul B. said he noticed a window washer out of the corner of his eye, positioned outside of their 15th floor window, intensely staring at the couple with "obvious, prurient pleasure," the suit states.
Paul B. saw that the window washing platform was not moving at all, nor were its support cables, suggesting that it had been in place for a lengthy period of time, according to the suit.
The grinning window washer began to raise the platform when he realized he was discovered, the suit states. He never appeared to be washing the window but instead was focusing on the couple, the suit alleges.
Both plaintiffs have experienced anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder since the incident, the suit states. They no longer feel comfortable being intimate, even with the blinds closed, the suit states.
"Their romantic relationship has essentially been extinguished and they have since ended their relationship entirely," the suit alleges.
