Harrison Ford to be Given Career Achievement Award

Harrison Ford will be given the career achievement award at the Hollywood Film Awards in an Oct. 21 ceremony at the Beverly Hilton.

Ford, 71, who rose to fame as Han Solo in "Star Wars" and is set to play him again in "Star Wars Episode VII,"  recently played Brooklyn Dodgers executive Branch Rickey in "42," the biopic about Jackie Robinson and has a role in the upcoming comedy "Anchorman: The Legend Continues."

"It is a great honor to celebrate Harrison Ford's extraordinary talent and remarkable career with our Hollywood Career Achievement Award," said Carlos Abreu, the founder and executive producer of the awards show.

Thanks in part to blockbusters like "Indiana Jones," the Chicago-born Ford, nominated for the 1986 best actor Oscar in "Witness," is among Hollywood's top-grossing actors, with worldwide ticket sales to his films in the $6 billion range. The 71-year-old father of four is married to actress Calista Flockhart and an avid airplane and helicopter pilot.
