Hollywood Today: Neighborhood Council Meets to Discuss Redevelopment, Redistricting
Also: In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, most city offices are closed.

The Hollywood United Neighborhood Council Monday to discuss sending a letter to elected officials in support of the elimination of redevelopment agencies and in opposition to a revival of a local redevelopment agency. Also up for discussion are the neighborhood council's goals for 2012 and a possible position/letter on the Los Angeles City Council redistricting process. [Full Agenda]

- City Hall offices and the library will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Los Angeles Unified School District students also get the day off.  Need stamps? That will have to wait until Tuesday, as the United States Postal Service offices are closed for the day, along with banks and credit unions. Often referred to as MLK Day, the federal holiday is observed on the third Monday in January each year. It is scheduled to take place around the time of King's birthday, Jan. 15.

There's also "Contested Visions in the Spanish Colonial World," a collection of indigenous art forms from the Aztec and Inca civilizations during the colonial period. " See more than 300 objects that include furniture, ceramics, metalwork, fashion and textile as well as industrial and graphic design in the exhibition that examines California's part in shaping the culture of the country for that era.
